Abstract. The purpose of the article is to examine the socio-economic significance, volumes, structure, and main trends of capital investment in education, as well as to identify the key determinants and predictors of the investment process in the educational sector of Ukraine. To achieve this objective, general scientific and special methods of analysis and synthesis were applied, along with statistical methods for the analysis of time series, assessment of development trends, and graphical methods. The structure and dynamics of capital investment across education sub-sectors over the period 2010–2024 were analyzed. The results indicate that the investment process in the education sector is characterized by unstable trends and a decline in investment activity during 2020–2022, with the exception of secondary education. The study identifies the main determinants of capital investment, understood as socio-economic factors that shape its dynamics and scale, in particular the profitability of operating activities and the number of educational institutions. A linear two-factor regression model was constructed, which adequately describes the statistical regularities of the investment process in the education sector. It was found that a one-percentage-point increase in operating profitability leads to an average increase in capital investment of UAH 207.5 million, while an expansion of the network of educational institutions by one unit results in an additional UAH 0.078 million in investment. The findings demonstrate that improving economic efficiency and developing educational infrastructure are key prerequisites for intensifying investment processes. The study substantiates the expediency of implementing policies aimed at improving the financial performance of enterprises, modernizing and digitalizing educational infrastructure, and expanding targeted state support programs for educational institutions. The introduction of systematic monitoring of the relationship between economic financial performance and investment in education is recommended. The relevance of the study is determined by the challenges posed by martial law and the need to preserve and develop human capital through the modernization of existing and the creation of new material and technical facilities of educational institutions.
