THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

Full text (pdf)
Language: Ukrainian
Abstract. The purpose of the article is to study the role of education as a key factor in the formation and development of human potential in Ukraine, taking into account the current socio-economic challenges. The article examines the concept of human potential in the context of the socio-economic development of society. Special attention is paid to the financial aspects of human potential, in particular, the use of economic resources to form factors that contribute to the development of individuals’ abilities, skills and opportunities within a given socio-economic environment. One of the main tools for measuring the quality of human potential is the Human Development Index (HDI), which is used to assess the dynamics of human development at national and global levels. The article analyses HDI indicators and additional indices for Ukraine, as well as indicators of inequality in access to education, income and life expectancy. It is established that the socio-economic environment largely depends on the level of the national economy, which is closely linked to long-term investment activity. The article also highlights the importance of this environment for the development of human potential, particularly its educational component, as it creates the conditions that influence the opportunities for individuals to realise their potential in society. The article concludes that education is an essential component of human development in Ukraine, as it equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary for participation in the economy and innovation. Education enables individuals to improve their quality of life by enhancing their ability to contribute productively to the development of society. By providing equal opportunities for learning, education helps to reduce social inequalities, thereby creating a more inclusive and equitable society. In Ukraine’s rapidly changing global context, education is essential to ensure a competitive and adaptable workforce. Ultimately, investment in education accelerates sustainable development and strengthens the long-term resilience of the nation.
