GLOBALISATION AND CORPORATISATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL SECTOR DRIVEN BY TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATIONS
Full text (pdf)
Language: Ukrainian
Abstract. The article examines the impact of transnational corporations (TNCs) on globalisation processes in education, in particular on the development of corporate education and corporate universities. It is noted that TNCs, due to their significant financial resources and active participation in labour markets, play an increasingly important role in shaping modern educational environment. The authors analyse the main forms of interaction between the corporate sector and educational institutions, and highlight both the positive and negative consequences of the commercialisation of education. They observe that national education systems often fail to keep pace with the rapidly changing labour market, and therefore corporate structures partly assume the function of training highly qualified specialists. Particular attention is paid to the role of corporate universities as tools for developing employees’ professional competencies in line with specific businesses’ needs. The article considers examples of the establishment and functioning of corporate universities both globally (McDonald’s, IBM, General Electric) and in Ukraine (DTEK Academy, Open AgriTech University, Nova Poshta Corporate University). The importance of implementing innovative educational practices is emphasised, including microlearning, just-in-time learning, modular formats, and lifelong learning. The article also outlines key trends in the digitalisation-driven transformation of corporate education and labour automation, as well as the shortening of innovation cycles. It is concluded that corporate universities not only contribute to effective human resource development for businesses, but also serve as key centres of educational innovation. They form a new learning culture focused on flexibility, practicality and continuous learning.
