PROSPECTS AND ETHICAL CHALLENGES OF USING GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR DEVELOPING THE INFORMATION AND DIGITAL COMPETENCE OF BASIC SECONDARY EDUCATION STUDENTS
Full text (pdf)
Language: Ukrainian
Abstract. The article focuses on substantiating the prospects and ethical challenges of using generative artificial intelligence (GAI) to develop the information and digital competence of students at the level of basic secondary education in the context of the digital transformation of the education system. The relevance of the study stems from the rapid spread of GAI tools, which are actively integrated into the educational environment and transform approaches to organizing the educational process, the interaction of students and teachers, and the creation and processing of educational content. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the prospects and ethical challenges of using GAI for the development of information and digital competence of basic secondary education students, based on an analysis of the current state, educational practices, and strategic trends in the development of digital education. The methodological basis of the study is based on the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis, generalization and comparison of the results of modern foreign and domestic scientific publications, regulatory documents, international reports and educational initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence and digital education. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of studies that reveal the pedagogical, organizational and ethical aspects of integrating GAI into the educational process, as well as the potential of relevant technologies for personalizing learning, supporting students’ independent work, and developing their digital literacy. As a result of the study, key areas of using GAI in school education were identified and its potential for developing critical thinking, information literacy, analysis, evaluation and digital content creation skills was substantiated. The main risks and limitations of implementing GAI were identified, related to ethical challenges, issues of academic integrity, uneven educational practices and insufficient training of teachers to use such technologies. It was concluded that the effective use of GAI in basic secondary education requires a systematic, methodically justified and ethically balanced approach focused on developing students’ ability to interact critically and responsibly with digital technologies.
